The Civil Infrastructure and Structural Design program equips students with technical competencies across both civil infrastructure design and structural design technology — a combination that opens career doors in engineering, infrastructure, and construction across BC and beyond. Students develop the ability to produce, read, and analyze detailed technical drawings for both civil infrastructure systems and structural building elements.
The program covers civil design fundamentals — including site planning, road design, drainage, utilities, and earthworks — alongside structural design principles such as structural analysis concepts, material properties, structural detailing, and building code awareness. Students gain hands-on experience with industry-standard software used daily by engineering professionals.
Graduates are prepared to work as design support technicians, structural drafting technicians, and civil design technicians within engineering consultancies, structural engineering firms, government infrastructure departments, and construction organizations. This program also provides a strong technical foundation for students interested in pursuing further studies in civil or structural engineering technology.
