Textbooks

Every program does not require textbooks, please consult an educational advisor to see if the program you are interested in requires them. Students should be aware that all textbooks may not be physical copies. We have partnered with agencies that solely use E-books. To learn more, please email study@brightoncollege.com.

Examinations

At Brighton College, some of our programs have a partnership with a third-party agency such as NPI, AHLEI, CIFFA, FITT. These agencies have industry examinations that students are required to take.

Tax Information

What is a T2202?

For enrolment in 2019 or later, the T2202 replaces the current T2202. A T2202 is a tax receipt that is issued to students reporting the total tuition paid in the previous calendar year. The form shows the amount of tuition that can be reported for income tax purposes, as well as the number of months eligible for the education deduction. Find more information in the Revenue Canada Student and Income Tax Guide [PDF].

Who will get a T2202 form?

T2202 is the Tuition, Education, and Textbook Amounts Certificate, which is used for reporting to the Canada Revenue Agency for income tax purposes. This form is issued to students who meet all of the following conditions:

  • You were enrolled during the calendar year in a qualifying education program or a specified education program
  • You paid more than $100 in tuition fees
  • You were 16 years of age or older before the end of the year

Contact us via email at T2202@brightoncollege.com if you have questions.

When and how do I get my T2202?

T2202 for the current calendar year (January to December) is available by the end of February of the following year. Your T2202 for the previous calendar year is emailed to you by the end of February of the year. Should you haven’t received your T2202 after February 28 or your email address different from the one you provided upon program registration, please contact us with your most updated email address at: T2202@brightoncollege.com.

Why is my T2202 showing less than what I paid?

There are a few possible reasons:

  • Eligible tuition fees are based on the calendar year for which the fees are assessed, not the date on which the fees are paid.
  • Not all tuition and related fees are tax deductible.

What is the difference between T2202 and T4A?

T2202 is an official tax receipt. It is issued to all students who paid tuition for qualifying courses in the previous calendar year. T2202 shows the amount of tuition that can be deducted for income tax purposes, as well as the number of months eligible for the education deduction. For more information, please see the Revenue Canada Student and Income Tax Guide [PDF]. T4A is an official document for tax purposes that must be reported on your tax return. It is issued to students who have received scholarships, bursaries, awards, and prizes from Brighton College in the previous calendar year.

Who can I contact regarding T2202 inquires?

For questions regarding tuition amounts, program duration or registration, please email T2202@brightoncollege.com. Please include your full name and student ID number in all correspondence. Please be advised that the College does not provide any tax advice.
