Every organization needs a good accountant. With over 7,000 new openings projected in for accounting and related clerks by 2029*, Brighton College, a Canadian Payroll Association (CPA) Certified Partner, helps fill those positions by providing two programs to help students prepare for their new career.
Brighton’s 17-week Accounting and Payroll certificate program teaches the basics of accounting and business. The certificate prepares you for a variety of positions, including accounting supervisor or clerk, bookkeeper, and tax preparer. Our Computerized Accounting and Office diploma program, with a duration of 34 weeks, offers a four-week practicum. Graduates move on to careers as accounting managers, bookkeepers, auditors, and more. Joyce Shu is one of them.
“I got my accounting diploma in China 20 years ago, and worked for several companies there,” says former student, Joyce. “But after moving to Canada, I struggled to find employment. That’s when I decided to enroll at Brighton College.” Joyce found her instructors professional and engaging. She also counts herself lucky to have worked with one of Brighton’s employment coordinators, who gave her tips on searching for jobs and writing a top-quality resume. “Brighton gave me the knowledge and confidence I needed to find an accounting job right after my work-term was completed,” says Joyce. She now works as a Billing Clerk for SDV Logistics. Both accounting programs are offered at Brighton College’s Burnaby campus. To learn more, fill out the form below.
