Brighton College, an engineering-focused career college, has launched a new diploma program to help battle climate change.

Burnaby, B.C. – Brighton College, a Burnaby based engineering vocational school, has launched its Green Building and Sustainable Design Diploma program to help battle climate change. The program is part of Brighton College’s initiative to promote awareness around climate change, and help decrease the environmental impact within the construction industry within British Columbia through education.

The Green Building and Sustainable Design Diploma program equips students with essential skills for pursuing a career in the fields of green building design, planning, construction and maintenance. A wide range of contemporary building design strategies and technologies is covered in the curriculum, with an emphasis on those that reduce environmental impacts and make local buildings healthier, more sustainable, and more livable.

“By offering this new program, we can help make a difference in our community and in the environment by providing training in sustainability and reducing environmental impacts.” Said Edward Cheung, Brighton College’s Building Education and Technology (BET) Program Director, in a recent interview. “In addition, Canadians re-define their careers, re-establish their career paths, and discover a passion they may have never known they had.”

The first intake date for the program is set for May 17, 2021. Registration is currently open. For more information about Brighton College’s Green and Sustainable Building Design Diploma Program, visit their website at www.BrightonCollege.com or call (604) 430-5608.
