Last Friday afternoon, Brighton College celebrated the grand opening of its brand new Surrey College Campus with a day of prizes, food, and entertainment. See more details below!

From noon onwards the day was full of exciting things to do. At the mall booth, our team was handing out information to interested visitors as well as shiny green Brighton College balloons to every child who wanted one! On location we had Sonic 104.9FM broadcasting live, fully equipped with games, prizes, and even a cotton candy machine (which we all enjoyed a little too much!).
Flash Photobooth was on location too, featuring free photo sessions and printouts for everyone. The Photobooth garnered quite a bit of attention from curious onlookers and even Brighton College staff too! We all enjoyed the fun props and trying to cram as many people as possible into the booth.
Up at the Surrey College campus, we had a Swag-Wheel that was spun each hour. The first two lucky contestants to be there every hour had the opportunity to win Brighton College Surrey Bags or gift cards upon spinning the wheel.
Our staff offered guided tours of the new campus throughout the day. Classrooms looked amazing after having undergone recent renovation, including the brand new healthcare lab with its floor to ceiling windowed walls.
Later in the afternoon, we had some of our instructors come out and hold information sessions about their field of work for interested and potential students.
Finally, our cake cutting ceremony took place at 6 pm, which was a nice way to end the day. We had a very inspirational speech by Brighton College Board Members Geoff Sale and Marv Westrom as well as the final prize draw for scholarship prizes which brought out a ton of people hoping to win free tuition!
Prizes:
Our Surrey College grand opening featured some amazing prize draws during the day. At 2:30 we drew a winner for a pair of tickets to see Rhianna live at Rogers Arena!
Our next prize draw was for two iPad Minis which drew a large crowd. We found two winners to take home the iPad Minis; needless to say, they were pretty pleased!
Our final prize draw took place with the cake cutting ceremony at the end of the day. We had three winners of tuition to Brighton College. The first was Neha who won $1000 towards a program of her choice. The second winner was Rachel and she won $2500 towards tuition at Brighton. Our third and grand prize winner was Bobick and he won $5000 towards a program of his choice! His family was there and they looked on as he posed for a picture with his winnings!
Overall everyone here at Brighton College feels that we managed to pull off a successful event. We are so proud of our new campus and we are proud to represent a student body that continues to grow and grow. We are very pleased to be the newest College in Surrey. BC offers so much in the way of education to its community and we are honored to be able to be a part of this growing community.
We would also like to extend our sincerest thanks to the group of student volunteers and community members who took the time to be a part of our Grand Opening. We honestly couldn’t have done it without them! Kudos!
