To support our business community and students, Brighton College would offer short-term skill training in relation to the current work required. We are committed to offering short-term skills training programs for students who want to upgrade their skills and improve their employment opportunities for the workplace environment.

Basic Computer Skill

Duration: 1 week, 20 hours; 100% Online and Instructor Led, monthly intake

This course will introduce basic computer fundamentals, MS Word, and Outlook. Students will learn basic computer fundamentals, Windows 10, Windows Explorer, and using an USB drive for data storage and files. Students will create, edit, and format Word documents such as employment letters, resumes, and references. In MS Outlook, students will send and receive emails, compose emails, manage contacts, and schedule appointments.

Business Writing

Duration: 1 week, 20 hours; 100% Online and Instructor Led, monthly intake

This course will provide learners with a basic understanding on how to create more impactful business writing communication. Let’s build our business communication skills for the post COVID-19 work environment.

  • Demonstrate the use of basic writing techniques in the workplace.
  • Write clear and concise letters, emails, and memos using MS Word.
  • Write persuasive messages for letters, emails and social media apps.

MS Word

Duration: 1 week, 20 hours; 100% Online and Instructor Led, monthly intake

This course will provide learners with the fundamentals on how to create concise business documents such as cover letters, resumes, emails, and memos. Good business writing is an important asset to develop.

  • Create, edit, modify, and print MS Word documents.
  • Create and format letters, emails, newsletters, and memos.
  • Modify design, page layouts, margins, paragraphs, and fonts.
  • Add, edit, and modify tables and insert images.

MS Excel

Duration: 1 week, 20 hours; 100% Online and Instructor Led, monthly intake
3 weeks Excel is also available as an option

This course will provide a basic understanding of MS Excel. Learners will create, edit, and modify workbooks, insert data, formulas, tables, and charts. Improving your MS Excel knowledge will provide a highly in demand skill set for learners in the workplace.

  • Create and edit MS Excel Workbooks.
  • Create and edit data.
  • Create, edit, and modify formulas.
  • Insert, edit, and modify charts and tables.

MS PowerPoint

Duration: 1 week, 20 hours; 100% Online and Instructor Led, monthly intake

This course will give learners a basic understanding of MS PowerPoint. Learners will create, edit, and modify and deliver PowerPoint presentations. Improving your MS PowerPoint presentations and successfully delivering them online is an important skill in communication.

  • Create and edit MS PowerPoint slideshow.
  • Create, edit, and modify slideshows.
  • Insert images and objects, animation, and transitions.
  • Present and run slideshows face to face or online.

Public Speaking

Duration: 1 week, 20 hours; 100% Online and Instructor Led, monthly intake

This course improves the learner’s public speaking skills in the workplace. Learners will learn to prepare, present, and deliver oral presentations for a variety of different audiences. Improve your oral presentations and speech to persuade, informative, and engage your audience in your career.

  • Increase your confidence as a competent speaker.
  • Develop voice techniques, body language, and gestures.
  • Read your audiences and engaging them through social interaction.
  • Employ selling, arguments, facts, evidence, illustrations, humor, voice, and body language to engage your audience.
  • Prepare and deliver persuasive oral presentations for educational and informative events such as online zoom meetings, seminars, webinars, online teachings, and social events such as weddings and parties.
  • Create and present PowerPoint presentations for an audience.

Employment Readiness

Duration: 1 week, 20 hours; 100% Online and Instructor Led, monthly intake

This course will provide learners on the fundamentals of how to conduct a successful job search. They will conduct an online job search, research companies, create cover letters, resume, references, and improve their networking and interview skills. Most importantly, we need prepare a better cover letter and resume and improve your interview skills which will lead to a better job in the current COVID-19 environment.

  • Conduct online job search and research companies.
  • Create a LinkedIn profile.
  • Apply for jobs through networking and on social media.
  • Create a cover letter and resume.
  • Prepare for job interview.
  • Create references and thank you letter.

Social Media Marketing and Branding

Duration: 1 week, 20 hours; 100% Online and Instructor Led, monthly intake

This course will give learners a basic understanding of social media marketing and personal branding. Learners will create and market their online brand to attract and maintain audiences. This highly regarded skill is vital for marketing your brand online in an organization or personal gain in the today’s digital marketplace.

  • Create a personal brand.
  • Create content for your brand for social media apps.
  • Market your personal brand on LinkedIn, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
  • Interact with your audience.
  • Track your social media marketing.
  • Measure and assess online marketing metrics.

Hospitality - Today and Tomorrow

Duration: 1 week, 20 hours; 100% Online and Instructor Led, monthly intake

This course will give students a basic understanding of the scope of the industry and introduce them to the many career opportunities available in Hospitality. Get ready for the post COVID-19 rebound of the Hospitality industry.
