If accounting is your chosen career path, you might be delighted to find that there is an increasing growth demand for fresh new accountants! As the baby boomer generation continues to move towards the age of retirement, accounting firms and payroll agencies are beginning to look at new approaches to attracting young people interested in accounting jobs in Canada.
For example, in recent news, CA’s and CMA’s of British Columbia have agreed to unify under the designation CPA (Chartered Professional Accountant). According to CPA Canada, unification means that Canadian Accounting Professionals as a group become more competitive in the global market. Additionally, a unified designation means savings on marketing efforts which leads to a better community amongst current Accounting professionals.
The Canadian Payroll Association’s “Payroll Champions – Knowledge, Achievement, Success” conference in Vancouver in June offers students and current professionals a chance to mingle and attend workshops to broaden knowledge in the payroll industry. You can expect to see everyone from current students, to business owners, to seasoned Payroll, HR, and IT professionals attending!
Also on the docket are a number of social networking events like the annual National Payroll Week in September which will be celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. This is a nation-wide celebration featuring events all across Canada.
