Tax Information - T2202A

T2202A is a tax receipt that is issued to students reporting the total tuition paid in the previous calendar year. The form shows the amount of tuition that can be reported for income tax purposes, as well as the number of months eligible for the education deduction. Find more information in Revenue Canada.

T2202A is the Tuition, Education, and Textbook Amounts Certificate, which is used for reporting to the Canada Revenue Agency for income tax purposes. This form is issued to students who meet all of the following conditions:

  • You were enrolled during the calendar year in a qualifying education program or a specified education program
  • You paid more than $100 in tuition fees

T2202A for the current calendar year (January to December) is available by the end of February of the following year. Your T2202A for the previous calendar year is emailed to you by the end of February of the year. Should you haven’t received your T2202A after February 28 or you have your email address different from the one you provided upon program registration, please contact us with your most updated email address by sending us an email to T2202@brightoncollege.com.

There are a few possible reasons:

  • Eligible tuition fees are based on the calendar year for which the fees are assessed, not the date on which the fees are paid.
  • Not all tuition and related fees are tax deductible.

T2202A is an official tax receipt. It is issued to all students who paid tuition for qualifying courses in the previous calendar year. T2202A shows the amount of tuition that can be deducted for income tax purposes, as well as the number of months eligible for the education deduction. For more information, please see the Revenue Canada Student and Income Tax Guide [PDF].

T4A is an official document for tax purposes that must be reported on your tax return. It is issued to students who have received scholarships, bursaries, awards, and prizes from Brighton College in the previous calendar year.

For questions regarding tuition amounts, program duration or registration, please email T2202@brightoncollege.com. Please include your full name and student ID number in all correspondence.

Please be advised that Brighton College does not provide any tax advice.
