POSITION OVERVIEW:
Our green building design and construction program equips students with essential skills for pursuing a career in the fields of green building design, planning, construction and maintenance. Program curriculum will cover a contemporary range of building design strategies and technologies, with an emphasis on those that reduce environmental impacts and make local buildings healthier and more livable. The ideal candidate will be capable of teaching the following course:
- LEE100 – LEED® Green Associate Exam Preparation: This course will equip students with the tools they need to prepare for the LEED® Green Associate Examination. During the lecture, students will gain knowledge to prepare for the examination and have practices on various exercises for the Green Associate Exam. Instructor will use a study guide, presentation slides including practice questions and guide students through assignments and preparatory examination modules.
- LEE210 – LEED® Introduction and the Integrated Design Process: This course will help students develop their skills in setting up the LEED® Integrated Design Process and in using LEED® specific technical skills to complete and evaluate LEED® credit calculations. Topics include: Minimum Project Requirements (MPRs) for LEED® certification registration, selecting the appropriate LEED® Rating System based on project scope, and the use of the Integrated Design Process (IDP). The course will also cover the importance of establishing the LEED® project boundary and common terms and acronyms.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE FOR LEED INSTRUCTOR:
- Degree or diploma in Architecture, Building Science, Engineering, Construction or related field of studies
- At least 2 to 5 years of experience in Building Design or Architectural Design related fields
- Previous instructional experience will be considered an asset
- LEED® Green Associate and/or LEED® AP credential
- Excellent knowledge in LEED® Green Associate Exam Preparation
- Excellent knowledge in LEED® Integrated Design Process
- Familiarity of the Canada Green Building Council Integrated Design Process
- Able to demonstrate success in innovative or student-centered teaching techniques
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Proficient with educational technology including databases and online learning environments
- Excellent instructional capability
- Able to maintain professionalism and cordiality when working with others
- Proficient with all Microsoft Office programs and applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams, etc.)
- Strong Proficiency in English
OTHER DUTIES:
- Preparing a course material and exams, and having these available and approved as required by College policy
- Attending the classroom at the specified hours, teaching the approved curriculum and managing all student activities
- Holding weekly office hours for student consultations
- Responding to students and administration in a timely and professional manner
