What is MCSA (Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate)?


The Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) program is a certification program specifically for those interested in pursuing a career in information technology. MCSA is a prerequisite for the advanced Microsoft certifications and is also intended for those looking to begin their career with an entry-level IT position.

Microsoft’s MCSA IT Academy program specializes in any of the following areas:

  • Windows Server 2008
  • Windows Server 2012
  • SQL Server 2012
  • Windows 7
  • Windows 8

As students advance within the Microsoft Certified Professional program, individuals can obtain any or all of the following certifications:

  • Microsoft Certified Product Specialist (MCPS)
  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer (MCSD)
  • Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE)
  • Microsoft Certified Trainer (MCT)

In order to prepare for the Microsoft Certified Professional exams, students may take courses or a program at a certified training location, or through a diploma program at a recognized college.

As of September 9th, 2013, Brighton College will be offering the preparatory courses needed for the MCSA exam through the 32 week Network Administration Specialist Diploma Program.
