Educational Advisor

PURPOSE

The purpose of the Educational Advisor is to promote and sell the programs of the College to potential students by identifying the appropriate programs that meet their individual career goals.

OVERVIEW

The Educational Advisor is responsible for responding to inquiries from potential students about various programs, providing counselling to help individuals clarify their employment goals and to identify the appropriate programs to meet these goals. The primary function of this position is to maximize each opportunity to market programs and to meet or exceed the enrolment targets for the College. This position will provide motivation to students to ensure their success in the program, and also performs related administrative and reporting duties.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Post-Secondary Education – minimum of Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • One to three years’ sales experience in a results driven, service- oriented, fast paced environment

QUALIFICATIONS

To be successful in the Educational Advisor position, individuals must be committed to developing, maintaining and demonstrating the following:

  • Excellent oral communication skills
  • Excellent sales and marketing skills based on integrity and professionalism
  • Excellent understanding of the programs and services provided by the College
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office including Word, Excel, Outlook

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responding to all inquiries from potential students, media, case managers, etc; promoting the programs and services of the College, including ongoing networking and participation in industry promotional events as required
  • Interviewing potential students according to the College Admissions Presentation Structure to explore their background, interests and identify their individual career goals; advise on appropriate programs to meet their goals
  • Completing enrolment of new students including related paperwork and providing information on payment options and requirements, as outlined in the College Admissions Procedures document
  • Maintaining records to track and follow-up on potential leads, providing motivation and encouragement to potential students as appropriate
  • Tracking and reporting weekly activities (leads, appointments, interview, enrolment)
  • Providing ongoing coaching and motivation to students to support their success
  • Attending regular marketing meetings; Establishing and maintaining monthly targets
  • Following up on potential and actual cancellations
  • Participating in training of new educational advisors
  • Other duties as assigned to support the objectives and purpose of the College

Web and Online Developer

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:
The Web and Online Developer will report to the VP of Enrolment

EMPLOYMENT TYPE:
Full time, Permanent

WORK WEEK:
Monday – Friday, 9:00am – 5:30pm, Full-time

LOCATION:
Burnaby Campus, flexibility to travel between campuses may be required

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Diploma or Degree in online design, web development, or a related field
  • 1-3 years’ experience in a web development, web design or digital marketing

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong coding skills in CSS, HTML for creating, modifying and editing website;
  • Strong understanding of custom WordPress themes;
  • Knowledge of user interface design, with the ability to create mock ups and hand code designs for website;
  • Strong understanding of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) software applications for creative purposes;
  • Understanding of Social Media platforms (including Facebook, Youtube, etc.) considered an asset.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Update and maintain the corporate website;
  • Keep content up to date, fix any errors, improve performance and responsiveness;
  • Improve UI/UX;
  • Create and modify corporate website graphics and print materials;
  • Develop mock ups for offline and online marketing;
  • Maintain and uphold all brand standards;
  • Maintain the corporate social media feeds (Facebook, Youtube, Instagram, etc.);
  • Work with the VP of Enrolment and the administration team to implement and assist in other web and online or online marketing tasks;
  • Other Duties as Assigned by the VP of Enrolment and the Directors.

Academic Assistant to the Dean

POSITION OVERVIEW
The Academic Assistant will provide administrative support to the Dean of Academics while working alongside the academic administration and faculty to ensure that academic related needs are met.

WORKING HOURS & LOCATION:
The Academic Assistant will work 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 5:00pm. Flexibility may be required. Occasional overtime may be required.

  • The employee will be required to travel between campuses on occasion.
  • The employee will be required to work at other campuses as needed.

REPORTS TO:
Dean of Academics

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
  • Minimum 2 years’ in a comparable setting or capacity, within the education sector
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in curriculum development
  • Experience working with Learning Management Systems
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Type at least 50wpm with accuracy
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office including Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Complete work in an efficient and timely manner with accuracy and strong attention to detail
  • Work independently with minimum supervision
  • Prioritize assignments & multi-task on a daily basis
  • Able to work under pressure and maintain a calm focus
  • Able to exhibit a professional attitude and image

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

Administrative Support

  • Provide general assistance as needed to the Dean of Academics
  • Correspond with relevant organizations and institutions on behalf of the Dean of Academics and Brighton College
  • Take meeting minutes as needed
  • Schedule appointments and meetings on behalf of the Dean of Academics
  • Prepare, edit and/or proofread Brighton College promotional materials related to academic programs
  • Take messages and gate keep for the Dean of Academics as required

Academic Support

  • Review and propose course delivery related changes to course outlines and curriculum guides for all courses
  • Provide faculty with insight on curriculum items that are missing, or that require adjustment to ensure student success
  • Correspond with faculty and staff regarding scheduling and availability for upcoming courses to ensure courses are covered
  • Assist in the administrative process of transitioning F2F courses to blended delivery
  • Other duties as required by the Dean of Academics

Network Instructor & Program Coordinator

  • Diploma/Degree in a related field and/or 10 years related experience in the field
  • 24 months of related occupational experience
  • Teaching experience considered an asset

Industry Certifications Required:

  • CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate)
  • MCSE (Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert Server Infrastructure)
  • MCSA (Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate)
